In 1909 when James Carl was 28, he married Rose Elizabeth Twitchell. Born on 25 Apr 1891 in Tempelton, San Luis Obispo, Califonia. Rose Elizabeth died in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, California, on 25 Jul 1955; she was 64.

They had the following children:

		i.	Violet Pearl. Born in 1909. Violet Pearl died in 1993; she was 84.
		ii.	Marvel L. Born in 1912. Marvel L died in 1930; she was 18.
		iii.	Charles James. Born in 1914. Charles James died in 1976; he was 62.
		iv.	Lillian Blanche. Born in 1919. Lillian Blanche died in 2005; she was 86.
		v.	Harry Willard. Born in 1921. Harry Willard died in 1990; he was 69.
