The following shows the earliest confirmed date that each family was in America.  If the immigrant to America is known, they are listed.  If multiple direct ancestors in a family immigrated together, the person with the earliest birth date is listed. For example, if a father and son are both direct ancestors and immigrated at the same time, the father will be listed as the immigrant as he was likely the primary immigrant.

Peelle

IMMIGRANT: Lawrence Peelle

Lawrence Peelle arrived in Virginia in April or May 1621 – only a few months after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock.

About 1647

Hall

IMMIGRANT: Thomas Hall

Thomas Hall received a land grant in 1647 for transporting prisoners.  Additional research is needed to verify him as our ancestor.

Likely Before 1668

IMMIGRANT: Possibly Thomas or William East

This family starts showing up in records in the 1670s.  One record states that Thomas East had been a party to an agreement some years earlier.  This family does need more research to ensure accuracy.

1673 – 1684

Beck

IMMIGRANT: William (Roger) Beck

William is believed to have married in England in 1673.  His son Edward is said to have been born in Maryland in 1684.  Thus, it is believed that the family immigrated in that interval.

IMMIGRANT: William Buckman

IMMIGRNAT: Sarah (Rowe) Buckman

William and his family, along with his sister Ruth (Pellett line) came in a sailing with William Penn.  Like Penn, they were of the Quaker faith.

IMMIGRANT: William Preston

IMMIGRANT: Ann Taylor

William, his wife Ann, and their two children arrived in Pennsylvania in 1683.

Edgerton

IMMIGRANT: Unknown

 

Elizabeth Edgerton was born in North Carolina or Virginia by about 1712 as she married in 1728.

Cox

IMMIGRANT: Thomas Cox

 

He was received by the Concord M.M. in Chester County, Pennsylvania from Nailsworth M M, Gloucestershire, England in 1714.

Edwards

IMMIGRANT: Unknown

 

Judith Edwards was born in Virginia in 1688.  Her parents are unknown.

Before 1706

IMMIGRANT: Unknown

 

Thomas English married approximately 1706.  It is believed that he married in Virginia.  Thus, the family came sometime prior to that date.

IMMIGRANT: Unknown

 

There is some confusion among early Fellow families.  However, it appears that the family was likely in America no later than 1723 and definitely by 1731 when their daughter Phebe Fellow was born.

Sauer

IMMIGRANT: Johann Jacob Sturm

IMMIGRANT: Anna Benedictina Sauer Sturm

Johann Jacob Sturm and Anna Benedictina married in Germany and started their family there.    In 1728, the family arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

 

Over time, this family also used the names Storm, Storms, and Stormes.

McQuiddy/McQuitty

IMMIGRANT: Believed to be David McQuiddy

The earliest McQuiddy ancestor that has been personally verified is Margaret McQuiddy.  Her grandfather is generally believed to be David McQuiddy, who immigrated about 1735.

IMMIGRANT: Jost Fickes

Jost arrived in America in 1737 per my notes.  He married in 1739 and they had a child circa 1740/

IMMIGRANT: William Bassett

William Bassett arrived in Virginia from England in time to join the Revolutionary War effort in 1776.

IMMIGRANT: Unknown

Roger Ellis is said to have been born in Pennsylvania in 1782.  His parents are unknown as are the immigrants in this family.

IMMIGRANT: Unknown

Lemuel McCracken was born April 12, 1831 in either Ohio or Pennsylvania.  The McCracken immigrant has not been verified.  However, Lemuel appears to be a descendant of James McCracken who immigrated before 1785.

IMMIGRANT: John Jury

IMMIGRANT: Eleanor (Willett) Jury

John Jury, his mother Eleanor (Willett) Jury, his children including our direct ancestor Matilda Jury, his sister Eleanor, and his brother William’s family immigrated from Canada to the United States together.  The families had immigrated from England to Canada earlier in the century.
