Mary Rodgers was born in Perry County, Tennessee or Pennsylvania in 1812 to unknown parents. A record states Tennessee; however, it seems more likely that it was Pennsylvania given the Tennessee county did not exist at the time of her birth and Perry County, Pennsylvania was near where the Matteer family resided.
Marriage
In 1828, she married Matthias Matteer. They moved to Ohio ending up in Washington County. Mary gave birth to 10 children. She died approximately 1850 with records indicating both 1849 and 1850 . See Matthias Matteer for more information.
