William Donaldson was born in in Fairfax, Virginia in 1784. William’s father is thought to be John Donaldson, possibly of Scotland.
Marriage
William married Jane Marshall in 1813 in Mason County, Kentucky. They became the parents of nine children:
- Dorothy “Dolly” Ray married William “Pony” Reid. They moved west to Missouri in the same area as other family members.
- Stephen S. married Narcissa Williams. They were the parents to 10 children.
- Jane “Blind Jane” possibly married Mr. Stoddard.
- Elizabeth Brown♥
- Elender married William Preston “Pres” Bryan(t).
- William M.
- Joseph H. married Armelda Blakely. Joseph died at age 27.
- John Marshall married Lucinda Windsor. They had a large family and lived in Dophian County, Kansas. John also served in the Civil War.
- Thomas Henry died shortly before his 21st birthday.
In 1837, William and Jane moved their family west to Ralls County, Missouri. William appears to have died within the next several years. Multiple records of a death for William Donaldson have been found, but it is not clear which if any are for this specific man.
