Martha (Rebecca) Fowler was born in Franklin County, Kentucky. She is believed to be the daughter of Benjamin Fowler and Mary Nailor/Naylor. In 1829, she married Henry Carson in Butler County, Ohio. They moved west spending time in Ohio and Indiana before settling near Cosby in Andrew County, Missouri.
