William Bassett, believed to be the son of Michael Baset and Judith Bowling, was born in Limpsfield, Surrey England in 1755.
Revolutionary War
He immigrated to America before the Revolutionary War in which he served from 1776 to 1779. He was wounded at Baylor’s Massacre in Old Tapan, New Jersey. He was also in the Battle of Monmouth Court House. He was captured in one battle, but escaped. Read more . . .

In 1786, he married Margaret McQuiddy in Mercer County, Kentucky. Over the next 25 years, they became the parents of
