William Jury is our earliest identified Jury ancestor.  He was born in England in 1812.  His parents are unknown.

 

Immigration

John immigrated to Canada where he married Eleanor “Ellen” Willett, the daughter of William Willett and Harriett Holden,

Children

in March of 1835.  William and Ellen lived in the Blandford and Blenheim area of Oxford County, Ontario. They had four children

  • John Charles
  • Ann married Thomas Carr.  They raised their family in Ontario.
  • William Halloway married Agnes Moore.  They moved to the United States with John and William’s mother.  Their children were born in Ontario, Canada; Kansas, Missouri, and Michigan.
  • Ellen D. married Thomas Hartnett of Ireland in Hiattville, Kansas.  Their son John is believed to be the first child of European descent to be born in Hiattville.

 

Death

William had just completed building a big barn on their property in Ontario when he was stricken with typhoid fever and died. After William’s death, the family remained in Ontario until all of the children except Ellen married.
