Rachel Smith, daughter of Eleazer and Ruth (Davis) Smith, was born in 1804 in Rowan County, North Carolina. She moved with her parents to Wayne County, Indiana with her parents. In 1824, she married William Johnson. They are said to have been the parents of 8 children over a 16 year span prior to her death. However, only 3 have been positively identified.
