John Dickenson’s history is under investigation. There are pointers to Virginia and also to Maryland. A John Dickenson married a Rebecka Powell, daughter of Daniel, in Talbot County, Maryland. That man belonged to the Society of Friends, which is consistent with others in this family line. Additionally, others in this family line moved from Talbot County, Maryland to North Carolina. However, other people believe that John’s wife’s maiden name was West and that they married in Virginia or North Carolina. The first option seems more likely, but additional research is required.
