Ruth Davis was born in 1777 in Rowan County, North Carolina. She is the daughter of Henry Davis and Ruth Dishman. In 1796, she married Eleazer Smith. Sometime between 1811 and 1819, they moved to Wayne County, Indiana where they lived near Williamsburg.
