Jackman

William

1750 – 1838

William Jackman, son of Thomas and Hester (Wright) Jackman, was born in 1750 in Virginia.

In 1775, as the Revolutionary War was in its early stages, William married Judith Monroe.  They were the parents to eleven children:

  • William Len married Chole Ann Fugate.
  • Thomas
  • Elizabeth Eleanor
  • Sarah Ann married George Helm and Charles Hadley.
  • Adam married Elizabeth Triplett.
  • Margaret “Peggy” married Thomas Cook.
  • Mary T.”Polly” married Elijah McIson.
  • James married Sarah Vigles.
  • John married Lavina.
  • Alexander married Mary Jones.
  • Judith married Thomas Akers.

William moved his family from Virginia to Kentucky in the years after the Revolutionary War. People claim William served in the Revolution, but to date this has not been verified.  There there what appear to be two different “William Jackman” men in two different locations, but it is not clear if it was him.

William outlived Judith by 10 years, dying in 1838 in Russell County, Kentucky.
