John Bunting, son of Anthony Bunting, was born in Derbyshire, England in the mid-1600s.  In 1679, John married Sarah, Foulke(s), the daughter of Thomas Foulke(s) at the Chesterfield Monthly Meeting in Derbyshire, England following the traditions of the Quaker Church.

 

Immigration

John, Sarah, and their oldest daughter immigrated to the Colonies sometime between 1680 and 1683.  They moved to Chesterfield, Burlington, New Jersey where John became one of the original land owners.

John and Sarah’s children included:

  • Mary, who was born in England.

  • Sarah married William Murfin at Chesterfield, Burlington, New Jersey.

His Estate

John died in 1721/22. His estate included a 250 acre farm plus another 70 acres. Additionally, he had personal property that included two Bibles. His property in total was estimated to be worth over 209 pounds.
