Horseman

Marmaduke “Duke”

~1675 – 1748

 

 

 

Marmaduke Horseman was born about 1675. He possibly had wives Abigail (died 1713 and Sarah before marrying Mary Fitzpatrick in 1744.

 

His Life

Marmaduke was a farmer, or husbandman as he was called.  He  bought and sold land in the area and his property was referenced in many land dealings.

 

Marmaduke was also involved in the affairs of the area.  He attended town meetings, was on multiple grand juries, and attended to the executor/administrator duties for multiple estates. He was also a constable in Chesterfield Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. Additionally, he  was one of the men chosen in 1696 to lay out a a new road in Burlington County, New Jersey.
