Crawford

Archibald Jr.

1773 – 1842

♦Evidence

There is reasonably strong evidence that Archibald Jr. is the father of Alfred Wood Crawford.  In addition, it has apparently been printed in  genealogy books/newsletters.  However, I have not yet found a record or even a newspaper of that time that shows who Alfred’s father was. I believe this line will eventually be verified.

Archibald Crawford Jr. was born in 1773 and is the son that his father Archibald saved from the fire set by the British troops.  Had he not been saved, many people would never have existed.

Marriage

Archibald married Mary Wood, who lived nearby,  They are believed to be the parents of

  • Alfred Wood
  • Carmi married Phebe Brewer and moved to Holmes County, Ohio, where Alfred also moved.
  • Agnes died at age 16.
  • Almira married and remained in New York.
  • Ezra also moved to Holmes County, Ohio.  Ezra married Anna Croco and Sarah.
  • Sarah Ann married and stayed in New York.
  • Deborah married and stayed in New York.
  • Archibald John Lewis married Deliah Bates.  His family lived in Holmes County, Ohio.
  • Purthena
  • A set of twins that died.

There may have been a few additional children, but research is needed to determine if they are associated with Archibald and Mary.
