Sarah’s sister Mary married John’s brother Samuel.

Sarah Foulke(s) was born in Derbyshire, England in 1658.  She was the daughter of Thomas Foulke.

Marriage

Sarah married John Bunting  according to the Quaker tradition at the Chesterfield Monthly Meeting in Derbyshire in 1679.  She had her first child in England before the family immigrated to the Colonies, where they settled in Burlington County, New Jersey.

Land

In 1688, Sarah’s father Thomas Foulke(s) gave her 12 acres of land near her home in exchange for love and affection.  This was quite unusual at that time for land to be directly transferred to a woman as generally the transfer of land  would have been made to her husband.

Her Estate

Keeping with the progressive mindset, Sarah had a will at the time of her death in 1722 only a few months after John.  Her estate was estimated to be worth over 211 pounds, slightly more than the evaluation of her husband’s estate.
