Abel John & Eunity (Harrison) Pellett

Abel John Pellett, son of Francis and Mary (John) Pellett, was born in 1801 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

 

Marriage

Abel John married Eunity Harrison, daughter of Peter and Sarah (Bunting) Harrision, in Harrison County, Ohio at the Shortcreek MM in 1825.  They were the parents of

  • George W. married Sarah Cowgill and later Elizabeth. George lived his entire life in Ohio. Interestingly, his daughter Frances Evaline “Eva” married John Henry Peelle, who is a distant cousin in another family line.
  • Sarah married Albert Fox. Sarah and Albert moved to Illinois.
  • Elisha “Lish” married Julia Ann Paxton in Ohio.  They initially stayed in Ohio when the family moved to Kansas.  However, they soon joined the family in Kansas.
  • Salathiel “Late’ married Hester James in 1857 in Logan County, Ohio.  After Hester died, Late married Ellen White.  Late and Ellen made the move to the Kansas frontier.
  • Seth M.
  • Mary Ellen Married George Branson in 1857 in Logan County, Ohio. They moved their family to Kansas with Abel John and Eunity.
  • Harrison “Hack” married Elizabeth Martin in Logan County in 1855.  The first 6 of thier children were born in Ohio with the remaing 4 born in Kansas.
  • Allen James “Al” first married Philane Branson.  A few years later he married Elizabeth Slater. She died after the move to Kansas.  Al then married Nancy Baker Shook.
  • Albert F. “Bert” married Catherine Gruff in Logan County, Ohio in 1866. 
  • Two infants that died.

 

On The Move

Abel John and Eunity moved several times within Ohio living in Portage, Stark, Holmes, and Logan counties. They remained in Logan County for 21 years. Then about 1869, Abel John and Eunity moved west to Kansas, settling in Drywood Township in Bourbon County.  It is here that they remained for the rest of their lives.
