Henry & Della (Conner) Pellett

Henry Pellett, son of Seth and Aseneth (Crawford) Pellett, was born near Garland in 1871 on lands that had been Indian Territory just a few years earlier.

The First Marriage

In 1893, he married Della Conner, daughter of Willis and Mary I. (Portwood) Conner.  They had four children before Della died at age 33:

  • Clifford Claney
  • Nina May  died as a child.
  • Henry B. married Bertha Marsh.  They divorced after 33 years of marriage.  Henry then married Nina Majors.
  • Aseneth married Irvin Armer.  They divorced 34 years later.  Aseneth ,or “Senith” as she was known, never remarried.  She lived to be 100 years old.

The Very Short-Lived Marriage

Two years later, Henry married Betty Maxwell. However, only three months later, Henry filed for divorce.

The Third Marriage

Then in 1914, Henry married Emma (Jones) Young.  They had one son:

  • Ralph Raymond married Catherine Hefferman.

Henry and Emma soon moved to Arcadia, where Henry  worked for a railroad and a brick plant.  By the time their son was three, Henry had moved back to the farm, which they had kept when they moved to Arcadia.  However, both of them made accusations about the other and both had filed for divorce. The apparent reason for their disagreement was Henry’s three children by his first wife and Emma’s three children by her first husband.

At this point, Henry apparently had had enough of marriage.  He never remarried during his last 40 years of life.
