John Bunting Jr., son of John and Mary (Carter) Bunting, was  born Burlington County, New Jersey in 1743.

Marriage & Children

In 1768, John married Patience Tilton, daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth (Thorne) Tilton.  It appears that Patience belonged to the Society of Friends prior to her marriage, but that John did not.  In 1771, Patience issued an apology for marrying via license and asking to be reinstated in the Chesterfield Monthly Meeting.  She appeared to have been accepted back as the couple and their children later appear in Quaker records.

John and Patience were the parents of 9 identified children:

  • Daniel
  • Mary
  • Sarah
  • Lucy
  • Patience
  • John
  • Rebecca
  • Micheal
  • Tilton

Moving Around

In the last half of the 1780s, the John, Patience, and their children move between the  Chesterfield  Monthly Meeting and the Little Eggharbour Monthly Meeting. Then, in 1790, the family received a certificate from the  Chesterfield Monthly Meeting To the Pipe Creek Monthly Meeting in Maryland.

It is believed that John died  about 1811 in Wayne County, Pennsylvania in the very northeastern part of the state.  The date and location of his death has not been verified.
