To The Colonies

Thomas Foulke was one of several mean that came to the Colonies in 1677 to buy land of the Native Americans for the purpose of creating a Quaker settlement in New Jersey.  They traveled on the ship “The Kent” and were the second ship to enter the Delaware River.  They landed near Racoon Creek.  Thomas, along with the other men, signed for the land.

By 1684, Thomas personally owned 350 acres of land. Over the years, Thomas bought and sold land.  He sold a lot to his son-in-law Samuel Bunting, sold 200 acres to his son-in-law Anthony Woodward, deeded 6 acres to his son-in-law John Bunting, and gave 12 acres to his daughter Sarah (wife of John Bunting) for love and affection.

Thomas died in 1714 in Chesterfield Township, Burlington, New Jersey.
